Correction: Age-Dependent Modulation of Synaptic Plasticity and Insulin Mimetic Effect of Lipoic Acid on a Mouse Model of Alzheimer’s Disease

چکیده
Figure 4 in the published article shows the same Western blot for two different ages of mice in error, in Fig. 4A and Fig. 4F. The representative blot for IRS in Fig. 4A (third from top) and that for pIRS Tyr in Fig. 4F (first from top) are the same images. The pIRS Tyr in Fig. 4F (first from top) needs to be replaced, and the authors have provided a corrected figure here, as well as the raw blots. This error was introduced while revising Fig. 4 to add new data during the first revision. The authors apologize for this error. This does not affect the findings in the article, because the mean intensity of the bands was calculated from the correct Western blots. The authors have provided the original images for Figure 4. These are cropped PVDF membranes. For the older mice another machine was used and the areas of interest were saved.

Age-Dependent Modulation of Synaptic Plasticity and Insulin Mimetic Effect of Lipoic Acid on a Mouse Model of Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that entails impairments of memory, thinking and behavior and culminates into brain atrophy. Impaired glucose uptake (accumulating into energy deficits) and synaptic plasticity have been shown to be affected in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. This study examines the ability of lipoic acid to increase brain glucose uptake an...
متن کاملLavandula angustifolia extract improves deteriorated synaptic plasticity in an animal model of Alzheimer’s disease
Objective(s):Neurodegenerative Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is associated with profound deficits in synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity. Long-term potentiation (LTP), an experimental form of synaptic plasticity, is intensively examined in hippocampus. In this study we evaluated the effect of aqueous extract of lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) on induction of LTP in the CA1 area of hippoc...
متن کاملP-36: The Effect of Lipoic Acid on Developmental Competence of Cultured Isolated Mouse Preantral Follicles
Background: α-Lipoic acid (LA) is a cofactor in mitochondrial multienzyme complexes and is well-known for its antioxidant properties in both of in vivo and in vitro condition. Materials and Methods: Preantral follicles were isolated from 2 weeks old NMRI mice ovaries. LA at concentrations of 0 and 100 μM was supplemented to culture media (α-MEM medium supplemented with 5% FBS, 100 mlU/ml FSH, 1...
متن کاملGalantamine Effect on Tularemia Pathogenesis in a BALB/c Mouse Model
Background: Galantamine is a drug used for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and some other cognitive disorders. It is an inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase however, interaction with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors has also been reported. Owing to the significant role of cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathways in neuro-immunomodulation, we decided to examine the effect of galantamine on tula...
متن کاملCholinergic neuropathology in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease
Transgenic mice over-expressing mutant human amyloid precursor protein (PDAPP mouse) develop several Alzheimer’s disease (AD)-like lesions including an age-related accumulation of amyloid-?-containing neuritic plaques. Although aged, heterozygous PDAPP mice also exhibit synaptic and glial cell changes, that is characteristic of AD pathology, no evidence of neurodegeneration has been observed. T...
